Case Study on Single Drug Therapy in Allergic Bronchitis
A 45-year-old female patient presented to our clinic with complaints of
Upon examination and detailed history taking, we found that the patient had been experiencing these symptoms from past three years. She also had a history of piles and was suffering from constipation. she was taking steroids off n on for the symptoms. Recently, the expectoration and cough symptoms began to progress towards a more severe condition known as Kashyaj kasa . After evaluating all parameters, we decided to select a single drug called Agastyahareetiki rasyana. This choice was made because Agastyahareetiki possesses important properties for relieving Kasa and is referenced in all five classifications of Kasa and Shwaasa. Due to the patient's gradual deterioration towards kashyaj kasa, it was crucial to make this selection.
Within a short period of four weeks, most of her symptoms were resolved. The patient continued to Agastyahareetiki rasyana for about six months. After this duration, the progression towards kashyaj kasa had nearly stopped.
conclusion
while treating any type of Kasa (cough), it is essential to consider whether the patient is deteriorating towards kashya, as acharya charaka says all the kasa if left untreated will shift towards kashya. If this is observed, the selection of an appropriate rasyana treatment is necessary to prevent further progression. As Agasthyahareetiki rasyana has major chunk of hareetiki it fits perfectly for this patient. Secondly having the properties of valee palitam hanyat ( manages grey hair) and varna ayu bala vardhanam ( increases strength and age of the patient) makes this rasyana a perfect choice.
